Robyn Bloomfield

Robyn is a member of Avonhead Baptist Church and is nominated by Martin Sutherland.

I think I would be good for this role because I have a passion to see women flourish, and because I could bring my varied experiences and my organisational skills to the role.

Robyn brings a passion for equality for women. She is interested in issues facing women, both in life and in the church, and she has a passion for bicultural issues, and social justice.
Robyn would represent Canterbury women on the board, and promote the work of the board here. She is experienced in Union affairs, having attended previous events organised by the Baptist Women New Zealand. She is involved in ministry leadership at our church, and has previously attended regional and national hui. She has the passion and skills to offer that fit with what the board is aiming to achieve in the future.

Get to know Robyn:

I have been a follower of Jesus for my whole life. I grew up in Baptist churches, and I have continued to be part of Baptist churches for most of my life.

I spent the beginning of my adult life as a school teacher, before becoming a mother. As a young mum I became involved in leading groups for mothers and babies in the community. My three children are all neurodivergent, and I have been homeschooling them for 7 years.

For 3 years my husband Josh and I worked for Arotahi, by living and working in Thailand with our family. Over the past 4 years I have gained experience with preaching, and for 2 years I have been leading the Missions ministry team at our church. Since finishing with Arotahi, I have stayed connected with them and the Baptist Union, and have kept an interest in what is happening nationally and regionally. For 4 years I studied part-time and by distance at Carey Baptist College, and this year I graduated with the Graduate Diploma of Applied Theology. I also have experience in using social media to connect and to promote events

So, I have leadership, organisational, and communication skills, and have skills in teaching and preaching. I also have skills in listening to others and in encouraging others, and I have the gift of faith.
